Dean FlutesThe embouchure holes are hand-cut on all models by Professional Flutists/Technicians who play-test each flute during the cutting process to enhance tonal sonority, response and projection. Concealed adjustment screws on all models gives a streamlined appearance with professional touch capabilities and easy repair access. Special high quality treated double skin pads are hand set and leveled with paper shims to prevent leakage and provide longevity and precise seating. This is a method usually reserved for more expensive professional flutes.
All plated flutes use a special triple silver-plating process (Tri-Plate) for lasting beauty and durability. Keys are artistically designed for comfort and smooth technical facility as well as a pleasing sculptured appearance.
The Dean scale, which is the most advanced scale available today, is the result of years of design study and testing by professional flutists as well as skilled technicians. Quality hand workmanship is apparent throughout the E.F. Dean Flute, from micro-fine filing of keys, the exacting tolerances of pad adjustment and flowing key action to the expertly hand-cut embouchure hole.
Dean Flutes have precise placement and sizing of tone holes that are drawn to professional specifications to assure correct seating and impeccable intonation. Extra section pins are used for added strength and reduced maintenance. Rib construction is a solid one-piece construction providing deep anchored secure post mountings and secure rod and key alignment.
Dean models are available with Sterling Silver lip plates, Sterling Silver headjoints or Sterling Silver body and headjoint. The Gizmo key (high C facilitator) is standard on all B-foot models. E.F.Dean flutes are made in a student model and an intermediate model.
All DF model flutes are supplied with French style case, simulated leather, with plush interior, deluxe zippered Naugahyde case cover and wood cleaning rod with headjoint measurement guide, except as noted.
These exceptional hand-made quality student flutes are designed and manufactured to incorporate an easier and faster fingering technique with improved tone. All models are triple silver-plated on German silver body, headjoint and keys.
The treated skin pads are carefully, hand-set to eliminate leaks. All DA models use high quality, hand felt-back pads, accurately set with paper shims in the precise method used in the manufacture of professional flutes.
The lip plate is hand-cut by our artist player technicians. Each flute is play-tested, voiced and touch balanced by our technicians prior to shipment. Most flute companies impose an additional charge for hand cutting the lip plate, but this is included with every Dean flute at no additional charge.
The E.F. Dean scale is the result of years of testing and design system resulting in the most accurate intonation available on any student flute made today.
