David Johnson teaches percussion and mallets at the California Institute of the Arts. He has played marimba and vibraphone with Mel Torme, the Xavier Cougat Latin Jazz Orchestra, the Vinny Golia Large Ensemble, the Kim Richmond Jazz Orchestra, Adam Rudolph and Yosef Lateef. His orchestral work includes performing in the sections of the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the Los Angeles New Music Group. Johnson also was a member of the Blackearth Percussion Group. He has recorded for CRI, Opus One, Delos International, Nine Winds K2B2 and Seabreeze Records.
